Destiny Hope "Miley" Cyrus was born November 23, 1992 and is an American actress, singer and songwriter. She is probably best known for portraying Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel Original Series, Hannah Montana. She got her nickname Miley because she was always smiling as a youngster.

Cyrus became an overnight hit after she was cast in Hannah Montana. Following the success of the show, in October 2006, a CD was released and included 8 songs from the show sung by Miley. As of December 2007, she is working on a movie spin-off from show, entitled Hannah Montana: The Movie. It is due to be released in late 2008 or early 2009.

Cyrus is good friends with fellow Hannah Montana co-stars Emily Osment (Lilly Truscott/Lola) and Mitchel Musso (Oliver Oken/Mike Standley III), who frequently text and conference call each other throughout the busy days. Miley Cyrus taught Emily Osment how to play guitar and Osment taught Cyrus how to knit. She is also friends with the stars of the very successful movie High School Musical, including Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody stars including Brenda Song. Miley Stewart is a regular teenage girl who lives a double-life as successful pop sensation Hannah Montana. She tries to keep her identity a secret so she can live a normal life and know who her true friends are. She lives with her brother, Jackson (Jason Earles), and her father, Robby (Billy Ray Cyrus). Robby is also her manager and producer; he was a country singer at one time. Miley's mother died when she was young. Roxy (Frances Callier), Hannah Montana's bodyguard, protects the family, in spite of whether they want her to or not.

Miley is originally from Tennessee and it is not clear when she moved to California, but it is known that she has been living in Malibu since she was in the sixth grade. When Miley first arrived at Seaview Middle School, she met her current best friends, Lilly Truscott (Emily Osment) and Oliver Oken (Mitchel Musso), to whom she reveals her secret. In the second season, she is a high school freshman. Due to her double life, Miley is often involved in tricky situations; but even in her normal life as Miley, she makes the same mistakes as anyone else. Miley has signature phrases, such as "Ya think?!" whenever anyone states the obvious and "Sweet niblets!" The character's funny personality is also known for being really straight-faced, and Stewart has to deal with people liking Hannah Montana, but disliking her as Miley, and vice versa.
