Hedley started playing at Trousers, a college bar. The drummer discovered his love of music while listening to his family's record collection. The guitarist used to listen to radio constantly as a teenager. Hedley began playing together while they were in middle school. Jerry Lee Lewis heavily influenced the early work of the band.

Hedley were unsure about their music careers with the release of their debut single, and were relieved after their music began climbing the charts ad getting lots of play on the radio. The group plays almost every night of the week as the they tour America.
