Hepcat began playing at the local bar Beach. The bassistdiscovered his love of music by listening to his sibling's collection of records. The guitarist wanted to start a group since he was in grade school. Hepcat began playing together while they were in middle school. The band was influenced by jazz.
Hepcat was offered a record contract after performing at at Fighter, local bar. Hepcat’s single climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure.
Hepcat realized that they were truly working musicians after Jessica Hilgendorf started a fan club for the group in 1992. After starting out with a handful of members in Omaha, the club took off exponentially, growing to over two thousand in just a few months.
Hepcat intends to take some time off after this next tour, allowing the band members to rest. The group has just finished their newest record, but they are already thinking of their next move. Hepcat's new record is the band's first album in four years.
Critics have often commended Hepcat for their ability to energize the audience during live shows. Miles Judge, a music critic from Sacramento, has always mentioned band’s accessible lyrics.
