The band of talented artists was formed in 2000 with the efforts made by members Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, Both of them had previously worked together and after some years of self-releasing records, the band got a huge break after signing a prestigious contract with Moshi Moshi in 2003. Under this label, Hot Chip released their debut LP titled, “Coming on Strong” in 2004. As the LP became quite popular amongst their fans, they soon signed a US record deal with the DFA Records. They re-released their debut album on a larger scale in late 2005. The second album 'The Warning' was even nominated for the 2006 Mercury Music Prize.

Till date, Hot Chip has released three studio albums, including 'Coming on Strong', 'The Warning' and 'Made in the Dark'. Their latest album, 'Made in the Dark' has already been awarded as the “Album of the Month” by Mixmag in their January 2008 issue. The band has performed and has been critically acclaimed for their energy in music at many live shows. Some of the live shows where they have played include Glastonbury, Benicassim, Electric Picnic, Bestival, Sonar, the Reading and Leeds Festivals and the Summer Sundae festival, in 2005 and 2006. Along with these, Hot Chip has also toured North America, Europe and UK performing their concerts for the last three years. One more reason for the band's popularity is their DJ talent; all the five members took part in a DJ set live on BBC Radio One's The Essential Mix radio program.
