The members of Icarus Witch met in 1993. The guitarist was influenced by his father's love of music. Icarus Witch began performing at Rug Burn, the local dive bar. The group used to sell their records out of their car at the local music store.

The years of paying their dues paid off when Icarus Witch signed a record deal. The band members were glad to have the opportunity to make an album and quit their day jobs that supported them while they worked hard at night to make their dreams happen. Icarus Witch knew they made it as soon as Jess Lewis started a fan club for the band in 1979. The club started out in Charleston with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.
