The members of Idin were friends in middle school. One of the group's members used to listen to his aunt's record collection constantly as a teenager. Idin started playing at Medal, a college bar. The group asked the local radio station to play their early songs.

Idin were still a little worried after they released their first recording, but were relieved when the release began to get some radio play. All the members quit their day jobs to focus on their music.
