Illinois’s members grew up together. The guitarist used to annoy his brother by playing his favorite cassette tape too loud. Illinois began singing at Shuttle, a local dive bar. The group was influenced by music of the 1950s.

Illinois's new project is the group's fifth release. The band is in the beginning of the tour promoting for their newest project. Illinois plans to take a break after the tour, allowing the group members to pursue other projects.

After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Illinois was signed to a record deal. The band members were glad once they were signed and quit their odd jobs that had supported them while they worked toward their dreams. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller clubs in which they began.

Illinois knew that they were real working musicians in 1989, after Lizzie Slatter started the band’s first fan club. The fan club quickly grew from a few dozen in Sacramento to a few thousand all across the country.

The group loves playing in Biloxi because they played their first sold out show there. Illinois seamlessly blends the songs from the past project with tracks from their latest release.
