The members of In Flames grew up together. The bassist was encouraged to play by his mother. The bassist used to listen to his mother's tape constantly as a kid. In Flames started performing at the college club City. The group used to sell their tapes out of their car at school.

In Flames’s single rose quickly in the charts giving then the national recognition they always wanted. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather perform in the smaller bars in which they began. In Flames was discovered while joking around, performing on the street one day. The group played for little to no money at first and was just happy to be given a chance to be heard.
