Incubus started performing at Gimmick, a college bar. The bassist first found his love of music by listening to his brother's collection of records. The lead singer used to listen to his grandmother's music constantly as a child. The members of Incubus met in middle school. The band kept asking the local radio station to play their track.

Incubus was offered a record contract after their single was heard on K101.5. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller clubs in which they started.

Incubus realized that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act when the band’s first fan club was started by Brenda Hart in 1993. After the band’s first North American tour, the fan club grew from the couple dozen fans who heard the group play around Denver to the thousands who heard them play nation wide.

Incubus will take a break after this next tour, allowing the band members to rest. The band may have recently completed their new record, but they are already plotting the next move. The most current album is 's first album since the band broke up five years ago.

Generally, critics will praise Incubus for their playfulness with the crowd at concerts. Dallas music critic Bill Van Gundy has always commented on band’s great rhythms. Incubus’s most current project is receiving superb reviews from Jacob Gitlewski, a music critic out of Phoenix, and Wally Verlinden, from Cleveland.
