Iron Maiden is a heavy metal band that hails from London. It is one of the first British Metal bands. The bassist, Steve Harris in the year 1975, founded the band. In the early years, towards the end of the 1970s, the band would perform at the local areas. In 1980, they recorded their debut album, “Iron Maiden”. The album featured one of the best songs of the band, 'Running Free'. The album was a hit in the UK and it appeared at number 4 in the UK Albums Chart in its first week of release. The success of this album earned a prominent position for the band in the British heavy metal march. Later, the same album was featured with more songs like, ' Transylvania', 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'Sanctuary' and released in the U.S. and many other countries. In 1981, the band came up with their second album titled “Killers”. “The Number of the Beast”, is one of the most successful albums of Iron Maiden that released in 1982. It reached the number 1 position in the UK Albums Chart. The song, 'Hallowed Be Thy Name', from the album is regarded as one of the greatest songs in the rock realm of all time. This successful album brought international fame for the band. Some other famous albums of Iron Maiden are, “Piece of Mind” (1983), “No Prayer for the Dying” (1990), “Fear of the Dark” (1992”), “Brave New World” (2000), “Dance of Death” (2003) and “A Matter of Life and Death” (2006).

Iron Maiden won the Ivor Novello Award in 2002. Apart from this, the group is also one of the inductees into the Hollywood Rock Walk in 2005. 'Two Minutes to Midnight', 'The Troope', 'Running Free', 'Flight Of Icarus' and 'Run To The Hills' were some of the major hits from Iron Maiden. Artist Biography- Iron Maiden Iron Maiden is a group of seven members. Steve Harris formed it after he has left his previous band, “Smiler”. He was also a member of the band, “Gypsy's Kiss”. Iron Maiden was first formed with its members- guitarist Dave Murray, drummer Doug Sampson, vocalist Paul Di’Anno and bassist Steve Harris. Later, another vocalist, Dennis Wilcock, replaced Paul Day. The band members would split apart many times owing to various differences. In 1979, the band recruited their second guitarist, Tony Parsons. But, before the release of their debut album, Dennis Stratton replaced him. Bruce Dickinson replaced the original vocalist Paul Di’Anno in 1982. He debuted in the band's most successful album, “The Number of the Beast”.
