Jack Ingram started singing at Junk, a college club. The band was influenced by music of the 1950s. Jack Ingram began playing together in 1978. The drummer first found his love of music by listening to his family's music collection.

After this past hectic year the members of Jack Ingram will spend some time apart. The band is in the first leg of the tour promoting for their latest project. Jack Ingram's most current project is a refinement of their well-established sound.

A member of Jack Ingram started dating a girl whose grandfatherwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. Jack Ingram accepted that they were real working musicians as soon as Patricia Felson started the first fan club for the band in 1982. The club started out in Champaign with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.
