Jam for Peace began playing together while they were in grade school. The drummer was encouraged to play by his teacher. The bassist used to listen to his grandfather's record constantly as a child. Jam for Peace began performing at the local club Radical. The group used to practice at the guitarist's basement.
Jam for Peace will spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the group members to pursue individual projects. The group just finished their new release, but they are plotting their next move already. Jam for Peace's latest album is the group's sixth release.
Jam for Peace’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going platinum. The band no longer has any problem selling out a show. submitted their single to Q93.9 and a DJ took a liking to it. The groupstarted headlining shows as soon as they started playing together.
Jam for Peace accepted the fact that their dream of making a life as musicians had come true in 1984, as soon as Lisa Emerson started the group’s first fan club. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Kansas City, but the creation the group’s website by Laura Fleetwood, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
