Jamie Lidell began singing at Caliente, a local bar. Music of the 1970s heavily influenced the early work of the group. The members of Jamie Lidell met in 1987. The bassist wanted to start a band since he was in college.

After this past non-stop year the members of Jamie Lidell will take some time off. The group is in the start of the promotional tour for their new release. Jamie Lidell's new release is the band's first since the group members went to work on independent projects three years ago.

Jamie Lidell met with a local DJ from B92.9 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started.
