Jordin Sparks is the sixth season winner of American Idol who has made a name for herself due to her sound and her championing of Christian causes. The pop, R&B, and contemporary Christian singer has been working toward performing for years. At the age of 17 she moved from Sandra Day O’Connor High School to home to be home schooled while she concentrated on her singing.

That same year she finished second in the 2006 Drug Free AZ Suprestar Search, won Arizona Idol, and was one of six young women chosen by Torrid in Phoenix fro the “Next Plus Size Model”. She even appeared in ads in the December 2006 issue of Seventeen Magazine.

She accomplished all that before she even auditioned for American Idol in 2007. That year she beat out Blake Lewis for the top spot. After finishing the American Idols Live tour, she began to work on her self titled debut album. Jordin Sparks was released under the Jive Records/Zomba Label Group in 2007 to mixed reviews, but overwhelming validation by fans.

The album was a hit in both record sales and digital downloads. The singles “Tattoo” and “No Air” have been top ten hits and have gone platinum since their release. She originally toured with Alicia Keys as a supporting act on her As I Am Tour and will tour with Jesse McCarthy in the summer of 2008 in the Jesse & Jordin LIVE Tour.
