The members of J.r. Moehringer met in 1995. One of the band's members was encouraged to play by his brother. J.r. Moehringer began singing at Deputy, a college bar. The group used to practice at the bassist's basement.

The group just completed their most current project, but they are already planning the next release. J.r. Moehringer will take some time off after this next tour, allowing the group members to work on other projects.

J.r. Moehringer talked to a program director from K90.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after J.r. Moehringer was signed. The bandspent years before being signed as an opening act. J.r. Moehringer signed the record deal, but were not expecting the next step to be any easier. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller clubs in which they began.
