Kander & Ebb Overtures’s members were friends in middle school. The group was influenced by Alice in Chains. Kander & Ebb Overtures started singing at the college bar Beach. The lead singer wanted to start a band since he was in high school.
got B91.1 to start playing their single and had their friends call in to request the song. A record executive heard it one day and immediately signed the group. The group regularly played at Baby before making it to the big time. Kander & Ebb Overtures were sure they were not going to be a one hit wonder after their single became popular. The band is mobbed by fans at every show.
Kander & Ebb Overtures knew that they were real working musicians when Mandy O'Malley started a fan club for the group in 1980. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Dallas, but the creation the band’s website by Jessica Emerson, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
