Kansas’s members were friends in grade school. The band used to sell their tapes out of their car at school. Kansas began playing at the college club Boss. The guitarist used to listen to radio constantly as a child.
Kansas was offered a record contract after their single was heard on X89.1. Even after getting the record deal Kansas were not sure if they would make it in the end.
Kansas accepted that the possibility of living life as actual musicians was a real possibility after the group’s first fan club was started in 1997 by Amanda Carter. The club started out in Raleigh with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.
After this last hectic year the members of Kansas will take a break to pursue other projects. The band is in the middle of the tour accompanying for their most current record.
Critics have often praised Kansas for their ability to rile up the crowd at concerts. A music critic from Kansas City, Gerald Pillar, has always commended band’s great bassist. Kansas’s latest project has received generally positive reviews from all the critics, including Reggie Gitlewski from Louisville and Bill Carter from Cincinnati.
Kansas respects the fact that their fans love their past albums, so they go to great effort to incorporate the previous hits with the new ones. Springfield has always been a haven for the band, so they are sure to schedule a concert there every time they tour.
