Katatonia began playing at Deputy, a college bar. The band used to sell their CDs out of their truck on campus. Katatonia began playing together while they were in middle school. The guitarist was influenced by his mom's love of music.
Katatonia’s first release climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure. The group is on tour constantly, performing before legions of fans nightly. Katatonia was discovered while joking around, performing on the street one day. The groupstarted headlining shows as soon as they started playing together.
Katatonia's members see this tour as a chance to expose a new audience to their music. The group is in the second leg of the tour accompanying for their new release. Katatonia's newest release has been heavily influenced by bands of the 1980s.
Often times critics will praise Katatonia for their playfulness with the crowd during live shows. Van Reiner, a music critic from Omaha, has always praised group’s great hooks.
