Kings of Leon is a rock band of three brothers Caleb Followill, Jared Followill and Nathan Followill with cousin Matthew Folowill. The name of the band is taken from the name of the grandfather and father of Caleb, Jared and Nathan. Their father was a preacher at United Pentacoastal church. They did many kind of works and at last settled in Nashville in 1998.

The band was started in 2000 with a music that had impact of their Southern culture and spiritual ambience. Caleb and Nathan were country music singer who later turned to rock. They were part of the West Tennessee Mass Choir. They worked for Pistol Creek Productions for a small time. This time they chiefly performed in different exhibitions. They were contracted by RCA recording group and met the producer and lyricist Angelo Petragalia who was also from Nashville. Petragalia had a working experience with Trisha Yearwood, Brooks & Dunn and Martina McBride.

He became very significant to the band and has written many of their tracks giving them a more rock identity than their old southern style.The Holy Roller Novocaine EP was their debut release in the year 2003 with Petraglia as joint lyricist. The introductory album Youth and young Manhood made them a celebrity and rose their venture after the trip with U2 and Strokes. Aha Shake Heartbreak was their next album which came to the US market in 2005 and UK market in 2004.

The album got many praises both from the national and international listeners. In 2005 and 2006 they went on a trip with Bob Dylan and Pearl Jam. From 2006 they started working on their fourth studio album Because of the Times which came to the market in 2007. After this album they got praises from many peoples and Ed O’Brien of Radiohead declared that he would loved to be in the band Leon’s.

They have also started their fourth album planning as the third album got released after a year it was tapped. He decided to write new songs and Jare declared that their fourth album would have much more rocks. They have become much experienced and will return to their Southern base again. They would start the studio recording from the February of 2008 after the completion of their trip. They performed on Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm with The Verve and Jay-Z. They were to perform on OXEGEN 2008, Roskilde Festival 2008, and V Festival 2008
