Labour started singing at the local club Merchant. Ozzy Osborne heavily influenced the early work of the group. Labour began playing together in 1987. The drummer use to listen to music constantly as a child.
Labour was offered a record contract after putting on a show at at Attorney, a local dive bar. The group members were excited that all the local festivals they had played had paid off. Labour’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going gold. Now the band headlines shows across the continent.
Labour accepted that the possibility of living life as actual musicians was a real possibility in 1989, after the group's first fan club was started by Maria Hart. The group embraced the small fan club and with the launching of the band’s own website by Margie Neilson and a well marketed national tour the club quickly grew to a few thousand.
Labour's members see this tour as a chance to expose a new audience to their music. The group just completed their newest record, but they are already plotting the next move. Labour's latest record took a few weeks to record.
