The members of Lafayette Blues Festival met in 1994. The band used to practice at the bassist's garage. Lafayette Blues Festival started performing at the local club City. The bassist wanted to start a group since he was in high school.

Lafayette Blues Festival were still a little worried after they released their first release, but were relieved when the release began to get some radio play. The groupspent years before being signed as an opening act.

Lafayette Blues Festival finally realized they made it in 1999, as soon as the band's first fan club was started by Deborah Isenhower. Starting out with just a few dozen members in Ann Arbor, the fan club quickly grew with band’s national tour and the launching of the band’s website by Lizzie Noonan.

Lafayette Blues Festival will spend some time apart after the tour, allowing the band members to work on other projects.
