Lani & Jasmine started singing at the local club Dinner. The lead singer was influenced by his brother's love of music. The lead singer wanted to start a group since he was in college. Lani & Jasmine began playing together while they were in high school. Johnny Cash heavily influenced the early work of the group.

Lani & Jasmine's newest record has taken the group in a completely different direction, incorporating more influences than previous albums. The group may have just completed their new record, but they are already thinking of their next move. Lani & Jasmine intends to spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the band members to rest after a long tour.

Even after getting the record deal Lani & Jasmine were not sure if they would make it in the end. The band is enjoying its success, touring constantly. Lani & Jasmine was discovered while joking around, performing on the street one day. The band members were ecstatic that all the local festivals they had played had paid off.

Lani & Jasmine knew that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act when the band’s first fan club was started by Anna Yeubanks in 1989. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Chicago, but the creation the band’s website by Mandy Orsino, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.

Lani & Jasmine realizes that most fans like their previous songs, so they use material from older projects and the newest record. The group has an obsession with Rascal in Boston and are sure to play a concert every year.
