Liza Minnelli was born into an entertainment family. Not only is her mother the legendary Judy Garland and her father the acclaimed director Vincente Minnelli, but her aunts were part of The Gumm Sisters and the performance tradition reached back six generations. After a troubled childhood filled with instability between her mother’s husbands and her mother’s own demons (substance abuse), Liza escaped to the stages of New York.
