M-80s started playing at the college dive bar Bandit. The guitarist wanted to start a band since he was in high school. The drummer was influenced by his family's love of music. M-80s’s members were friends in high school. The British invasion heavily influenced the early work of the group.

The group may have just completed their new project, but they are plotting their next move already. M-80s plans to take some time off after this next tour, allowing the group members to rest after a long year.

M-80s talked to a program director from Z99.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after M-80s was signed. The group members were happy once they were signed and quit their odd jobs that had supported them while they worked toward their dreams. M-80s’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going platinum.
