Mägo de Oz Tickets
The Spanish folk metal band, Mägo de Oz was found in1989 by drummer Txus. Subsequently becoming highly popular they turned among the finalists in the "Villa de Madrid" contest. They achieved prominence in their country, and became a Revelation Rock band in various media in 1995. And by 1996 the present line-up was established. And in the same year, they began working on the rock opera CD "Jesús de Chamberí". The recording was produced by Alberto Plaza and Mägo de Oz. Mago de Oz is one of the most renowned folk metal bands that have been critically acclaimed in and outside of their country. Their music often reflects a very Celtic style with their violinist.
By the end of 1999 Mago de Oz started their major project: a double disc dubbed Finisterra. To be more successful and dominate the music scene, the band brought Sergio "Kiskilla" on the keyboards and accordion and Fernando on the flute. The album was then issued in 2000. This album presents the utmost folk style, while still retaining their heavy metal roots. The tour for the promotion of this album was also far more advanced than the former ones. They changed to elaborate sets, pyrotechnics, and impressive lighting arrangements. In 2002 the band issued their first live album, Folktergeist, a compilation of songs played at various concerts throughout the tour.
Continuing with their ear-pleasing musical hits in 2005, Mago de Oz came up with two albums. The first one was a second live album called Madrid-Las Ventas, recorded in Madrid's bullfighting field, Las Ventas. While the second disc, Gaia II- La Voz Dormida, under the new label, Warner Dro, was the second album in the Gaia trilogy and it issued a single "La Posada de los Muertos". On this recording, the new bassist, Pedro "Peri had joined. Along with "La Posada de los Muertos" came other singles, including "Hoy toca ser feliz" and "Diabulus in Musica". This song was remarked as one of the most antireligious songs along with "La Voz Dormida".
During the Gaia II tour, Txus left the band and was replaced by Joaquin Arellano. He performed on drums for a month and a half. On September 8, 2006, Txus returned to the drums. On December 5, Mago de Oz brought out their very first major hits album Rock N' Oz. This album comprised a re-recording of the songs "Molinos de Viento, "Jesús de Chamberí", "Hasta Que Tu Muerte Nos Separe", and "El Cantar de la Luna Oscura". The album is a double album; the first disc includes singles and the second non-singles. A special version of Rock N' Oz, entitled "The Best of Oz" issued forth in a box set with the original 2 discs and an extra disc incorporating rare recordings letting in old recordings of songs never before issued with the first singer Juanma still in the band. It also includes a DVD playing up their American tour. Fans are eagerly waiting for their release of Gaia III in 2007 or 2008.
