M83 began playing at Anyplace, a college club. Earth, Wind, and Fire heavily influenced the early work of the band. M83’s members met in middle school. The lead singer use to listen to tape constantly as a child.

M83’s first release climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure. The bandwas headlining shows soon after they started playing live.
