Madball started playing at Cafeteria, a college dive bar. The lead singer used to listen to his family's music constantly as a teenager. The bassist used to listen to radio constantly as a teenager. Madball’s members met in high school. The band asked the local radio station to play their single.
Madball's most current project is the band's first since the band members went to work on independent projects two years ago. The band just finished their newest record, and they are already thinking of their next move. Madball hope to team up with other artists during the tour.

The group's members all had weird jobs while they waited to be noticed. Madball signed the record deal, and fully expected that they would last past the first album.
Madball knew that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act when Laura Dickenson started a fan club for the band in 1976. After the band’s first North American tour, the fan club grew from the couple dozen fans who heard the group play around Seattle to the thousands who heard them play across the country.
