The members of Madonnathon met in high school. The bassist was encouraged to play by his mother. The lead singer used to listen to radio constantly as a child. Madonnathon began performing at the college bar Anyplace. The band was influenced by music of the 1970s.

Madonnathonwere tentative after releasing their first single, but were more than relieved when they started hearing their music on the radio. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they started. Madonnathon was discovered while joking around, performing on the street one day. The band's members had horrible jobs when they started playing, just biding time until they would hit the big time.

Madonnathon accepted they had finally made it in 1996, after Maria Sheffield started the band’s first fan club. While the club started out small after the organizer heard the group play at a small club in Chicago, the club grew leaps and bounds after the group’s first national tour.

The new album from Madonnathon is the group's first album in ten years. The band is in the second leg of the accompanying tour for their latest record. Madonnathon's members hope this next tour brings in more fans than ever.
