Magnolia Electric Co. Tickets
Magnolia Electric Co is a renowned band formed by Jason Molina who himself is an American singer-songwriter. He achieved worldwide prominence performing and recording under the name Songs: Ohia. He became highly popular both in his solo career and working with various musicians. 2003 is a mark of a vital change, since then Molina has recorded either under his own name or, with a stable group of members, as the Magnolia Electric Co.
His interest in music was noticed since childhood. He played bass guitar with several notable heavy metal bands in and around Cleveland. And later decided to become a solo artist, selecting other musicians for his projects as and when needed. He made various home recordings under several names, consisting Songs: Albian, Songs: Radix, and Songs: Unitas, which he distributed himself at live performances. Following these he released other hits with his band and they became highly famed all over.
While touring in 2003, Jason Molina declared that he would rename the band from Songs: Ohia to Magnolia Electric Co. Though the name was changed, the members retained and the stylistic direction of the album of the same name. Simultaneously Jason Molina continued with his solo works, but this time under his own name. The first release of this type came out in January of 2004, as the full-length vinyl release Pyramid Electric Co. While Magnolia Electric Co. and Pyramid Electric Co. were actually intended as a double album. Although the latter appeared to be different in style compared to the former. Magnolia Electric Co.'s first official recording that came out was a live album called Trials and Errors, led by a studio album titled What Comes After The Blues and an EP, Hard To Love a Man, all three issued in 2005. Achieving immense fame with these tracks, in 2006, they released two more records, including Let Me Go, Let Me Go, Let Me Go and the more formal Fading Trails with Magnolia Electric Co.
It is not completely absolved, when Songs: Ohia turned into Magnolia Electric Co. As a matter of fact the name Songs: Ohia comes out nowhere on the artwork of the album except as a promotional sticker on the cellophane wrapping connects it with the previous name. Nevertheless, the old name had achieved such fame that, Secretly Canadian still promotes the album under the Songs: Ohia. On the other hand, the Magnolia Electric Co. live album Trials and Errors was recorded on April 16, 2003 at the Ancienne Belgique club in Brussels, during the period when the band was still traveling under the Songs: Ohia name. The name change was made official after the Spain tour in October 2003, although by now it seems the label espouses a name change around July 2003. Whatever be the name, Magnolia Electric Co. has always been present at the height of entertainment.
