Mary J Blige also known as MJB and the Queen of Hip Hop and Soul was born January 11, 1971. MJB has sold more than 40 million records and has received over 26 Grammy Award nominations. In 1988, Blige recorded an impromptu cover of Anita Baker's "Rapture" at a recording booth in a local mall. Blige has been compared to Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin because of her highly personal songs and gritty voice.

Blige had a very public and tumultuous six-year affair with Jodeci frontman Cedric "K-Ci" Hailey, which ended in 1997, she has kept many of her relationships private. When on Oprah Blige said she was molested at the age of five.

Blige was a spokesperson for the M·A·C AIDS Fund. She did two ads, one with Lil' Kim in 2000 and the other with Elton John and Shirley Manson in 2002.

Mary J blige is currently on tour with her good friend Jay-Z and they both were born and raised in Brooklyn NY. They are touring the country together and playing venues from Madison Square Garden to American Airlines Arena. The tickets for the US tour have sold very well and best tickets have been seeing prices much higher than most Hip Hop shows in the past.
