Matisyahu’s members met in middle school. The drummer was influenced by his aunt's love of music. The lead singer was heavily influenced by his family's love for music. Matisyahu started singing at local bars. The band used to practice at the bassist's garage.
Matisyahu’s first release climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure. All the members quit their day jobs to focus on their music.
Matisyahu accepted that they were real working musicians after Jessica Brady started a fan club for the group in 2000. The group embraced the small fan club and with the launching of the band’s own website by Margie Greczkowski and a well marketed national tour the club quickly grew to a few thousand.
The newest album is 's first record since the band broke up eight years ago. The band recently finished their new release, and they are thinking of what is to come next. Matisyahu are expecting to bring in a new group of fans with this tour and the most current release.
Generally critics will commend Matisyahu for their ability to rile up the audience when they perform live. Biloxi music critic Alan Colangelo has always been a fan of group’s tremendous hooks.
