Mogwai’s members grew up together. The guitarist used to listen to his father's tape constantly as a child. Mogwai started performing at Tutor, a local club. The band used to sell their CDs out of their car in the school parking lot.
Mogwai talked to a local DJ from K89.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Mogwai was signed. The bandspent years before being signed as an opening act. The group continues to play large venues, but still enjoys performing in smaller clubs on occasion.
The group is in the second leg of the accompanying tour for their new album. Mogwai's most current release is a refinement of their accepted sound.
Often times, critics will commend Mogwai for their ability to connect with the audience when they perform live.
