Momix started singing at the college club Comedian. The band was influenced by Bobby Darin. The members of Momix met in college. The lead singer used to listen to his sibling's tape constantly as a teenager.

submitted their single to Z90.9 and a DJ took a liking to it. The bandspent years before being signed as an opening act. Momix’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going gold.

Momix finally knew they made it as soon as the band’s first fan club was started by Liz Bierlein in 1990. The fan club grew from a few dozen to a few thousand after Cynthia Gitlewski created a website for the group and a national tour gave the group plenty of exposure.

The band is in the start of the accompanying tour for their newest project. Momix hope this tour and the most current release attracts a whole new group of fans.
