Mudvayne began playing together while they were in high school. The lead singer first found his love of music by listening to his dad's music collection. Mudvayne started playing at Hypocrite, a local club. The Mamas and the Papas heavily influenced the early work of the band.

Mudvayne’s first album did not sell well, but received critical acclaim. The second album was a hit and the band was saved from being released by the record company. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller clubs in which they started. A member of Mudvayne started dating a girl whose siblingwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. The band members were excited once they were signed and quit their odd jobs that had supported them while they worked toward their dreams.

After this last busy year the members of Mudvayne will take a break. The band may have just finished their latest album, but they are already planning their next move. Mudvayne's latest project is the group's first record since the band broke up four years ago.
