My Morning Jacket Tickets
My Morning Jacket takes their name from the remains of lead singer Jim James jacket. He found the jacket, which had MMJ embroidered on it, in the ashes and rubble of his favorite bar after it burned down. The group first assembled in Louisville, Kentucky in 1998 and began to play a style of music that combined elements of indie rock, country rock, southern rock, psychedelic rock, and jam band.
The lineup would change, but the original lineup featured James as the lead singer and guitarist, “Two-Tone” Tommy on bass, J. Glenn as the drummer, and Johnny Quaid on guitar. J. Glenn would leave after recording the second album, at Dawn, and the Quaid and keyboardist Denny Cash left in 2004. The group’s sound has remained the same though.
My Morning Jacket has steadily moved from the underground indie sensation status they achieved with their debut album, The Tennessee Fire, to a more mainstream success. The group has bolstered their fan base with appearances on programs like Conan O’Brien, David Letterman, and Saturday Night Live.
That audience has had many chances to see the group, as My Morning Jacket has spent a great deal of time on the road on tours and festivals. The latest release, Evil Urge (2008), is being promoted with a world tour that will begin on June 16 in Ontario before heading to Europe. By August My Morning Jacket fans will be holding tickets for the concerts as they come back State-side. The group will even be ending their long tour with a show scheduled for New Years Eve at Madison Square Garden.
