Every summer, Nacht Van Oranje is one Atlanta’s most highly anticipated festivals. After the city decided it needed a big act to bring tourists in to jump start the local economy the tour was started in 1990. George Weyland came up with the specifics for Nacht Van Oranje while listening to his favorite cassette tape. The new event did not receive much financial support or much advertising, so the tour started out pretty small, using a lot of local performers..

It took a couple of years, but eventually the city's residents embraced Nacht Van Oranje The tour began to get some more established acts to perform, but still included the smaller that had been with the tour since the beginning. Hotel rooms in the city were soon being booked months in advance for the dates around Nacht Van Oranje.

Now Nacht Van Oranje sells out months in advance, with tickets generally gone before the first week of their being released. Any group now considers it an honor to be asked to sing at the tour, and will try and break any prior commitments to make an appearance at the event. Nacht Van Oranje is always getting bigger, adding new stages, more artists, and more booths every year.

The tour is once again the biggest of its kind this year. More bands than ever will be there with huge names and great up and coming groups.
