Najee began playing at Politics, a local club. The bassist wanted to start a group since he was in grade school. The lead singer was encouraged to play by his middle school teacher. Najee’s members met in middle school. The group was influenced by Buddy Holly.

The new album is 's first project since the band broke up nine years ago. The group is in the midst of the tour promoting for their newest record. After this last hectic year the members of Najee will take some time off.

Najee were sure that they would make it after signing the record deal. They had heard stories of others still failing, but were sure they would be one of those bands. A member of Najee started dating a girl whose unclewas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after.

Najee realized they had finally made it in 1984, after the band's first fan club was started by Amy Jasper. Initially the band only had a few fans from Raleigh in the club, but after playing across the country the fan club’s membership exploded to a few thousand.
