The members of near miss met in grade school. The drummer used to listen to radio constantly as a teenager. The guitarist used to fall asleep with the radioplaying as a kid. near miss started singing at Anyplace, a college dive bar. The group used to sell their CDs out of their truck on the street.

near miss was discovered after their single was heard on a local music hour on Z93.1. near miss were happy to get the record deal, but were not sure how far they would go. The release of their debut album convinced them that they were right where they should be after their songs began to get lots of radio play.

accepted that they had made it as soon as Mandy Jagodzinski started the first fan club for the group in 1995. After the group’s first North American tour, the fan club grew from the couple dozen fans who heard the band play around Orlando to the thousands who heard them play nation wide.

The group recently completed their latest release, but they are already planning their next move. near miss's most current record took a few weeks to produce.
