New Kids on the Block was a boy band that was formed in 1984 in Boston and enjoyed huge success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The members were: brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood. They sold over 70 million albums and paved the way for bands like Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. Starr held auditions with his business partner Mary Alford. Out of 500 teenage boys, they found 15-year-old Donnie Wahlberg, who helped them recruit the rest of the band. Starr got them a record deal with Columbia Records.

After the group parted ways in 1994, they all did different things and most started families. Jonathan Knight left the music industry for real estate, Jordan continued singing and touring, as did Joey, Danny started a record label in Boston and produces other acts and even performs with other artists at times and Donnie went into acting and has such movies as Ransom, Southie, The Sixth Sense and others under his belt. Many people have tried to get them to reunite, but they wouldn’t. McIntyre said he would only perform with them if they decided to get back together for good. There is a lot of talk about a reunion, though, and an unreleased song with a video of their career highlights was put on their official website. Who knows what will happen? All of us will just have to wait and see.
