Nitzer Ebb Tickets

The music group Nitzer Ebb was formed in 1982. This is a young band found by Essex school friends Douglas McCarthy (vocals, synthesizer), Vaughan (Bon) Harris on synthesizers and drums, and David Gooday.

The group started their career with performances at local venues. Their eye-catching performance, military image and energy earned them a huge fan base. Subsequently they began performing at major clubs and concert venues. Their sound reflected a combination of powerful punk with the electronic pulse of DAF. They brought out their debut single "Isn't It Funny How Your Body Works" on 7 January 1985 on their own label Power Of Voice Communications. And soon they gained fame on the club music scenes. In the successive year 1985, 'A' side single, "Warsaw Ghetto"/"So Bright So Strong" released. This also was critically acclaimed as a number one dance hit. Two further releases, "Let Your Body Learn"/"Get Clean" and "Murderous" were issued on Power Of Voice Communications before they signed to Mute Records.

With increasing popularity, they grew in confidence and energy. And subsequently they started originating the Nitzer Ebb 'sound'. And the byproduct came as a fusion of strange analogue trickery, minimal song structure, backbreaking drumbeats and percussion, and Douglas Mccarthy's emotional vocals - screamed, sung, or just exclaimed. Their style was captivated in one of their publicity slogans from 1987 -"International Funk Aggression". In spite of being hard and dense, their tracks were always very entertaining.

They were regarded as a 'totality', constituting music, art and culture, evidencing itself as 'Nitzer Ebb Produkt'. Simon Grainger was an informal member of Nitzer Ebb and credit worthy for the stark look and feel of this visual look of the band, which aspired to evoke reaction, to critique, and even to poke fun at such austere blunt imagery. It also contemplated perfectly the sturdy style of the music. In short Nitzer Ebb had a huge influence on label mates, including Detroit Techno, with Derrick May publicly accepting this fact before the band opened last year's Detroit annual electronic music festival. Notable DJs and producers, from Richie Hawtin to Tiga have also recognized the influence that Nitzer Ebb has made on their careers. Indeed, their tracks are still heard all over the world's more distinguishing dance floors, and have been continuously listed in a wide range of DJ's Top 10s throughout the past year in the dance music magazine, Mixmag.

Recently in 2006 Nitzer Ebb toured once more, recruiting a female drummer, Kourtney Klein, and concentrating on the more electronic phase of their career, with Mute Records eventually releasing the 2 CDs set, Body of Work 1984-1997 in June 2006. Body Rework presented remixes from popular contemporary techno talents, including Motor, Black Strobe, the Hacker, Derrick May, and Robag Wruhme. Nitzer Ebb continues touring and recording new material, which are ear pleasing. Their live performances are a privilege to attend.
