The members of Oakhurst were friends in high school. The bassist used to annoy his father by playing his favorite CD incessantly. The drummer was heavily influenced by his sibling's love for music. Oakhurst started performing at Lights, a local club. The group used to sell their records out of their truck on the street.

After getting the record deal, Oakhurst were sure they would make it. The band does not have a problem selling out any venue now, small or large. Oakhurst was discovered while performing at at Beach, a local club. All the members quit their other jobs to focus on their album.
