The members of Old Union were friends in high school. The bassist wanted to start a group since he was in high school. Old Union began performing at the college dive bar X-ray. The group was influenced by Aretha Franklin.
The most current release from Old Union is the band's first album in eight years. The group is in the start of the tour accompanying for their new record. Old Union intends to take a break after this next tour, allowing the group members to rest after a long year.
After the single hit the airwaves and became incredibly popular, Old Union knew they’d made it big and were not willing to be just another one hit wonder. The band's members all had odd jobs while they worked hard to be known.
Old Union knew they had finally made it in 1999, after Jenny Lamango started the group’s first fan club. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Cleveland, but the creation the group’s website by Anna Brooks, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
