Djalili is an award winning, acclaimed and popular British-Iranian comedian. He is not only the man who tickles the funny bone but also an actor of repute. He has appeared in movies such as; The Mummy’, ‘Gladiator’, ‘Spy Game’, ‘Modigliani’, 'Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow', 'Casanova', 'The Allottment' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean III'. He has also made his presence felt in the small screen with two seasons of 'Small Potatoes' on Channel 4. His talent and popularity is just not confined to the shores of Britain, he is equally popular in the United States too. As of now he can be seen in BBC1, ‘The Omid Djalili Show.’

Djalili was born and brought up in Chelsea, London, and his parents were Bahá'í from Iran. He had a normal upbringing, and after school he went to the University of Ulster in Coleraine, to study English and Theater. He got a taste of substantial success in stand up comedy, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1995 with "Short, Fat Kebab Shop Owner's Son". He repeated the feat the coming year with "The Arab and the Jew". His acts concentrate chiefly on multiculturalism and ethnic habits. His overactive and energetic manner of copying accents, undercutting political humor with ludicrous belly dances and singing has earned him a substantial worldwide following.

He has performed in countries such as; Australia, Ireland, Denmark, Canada, Germany and the United States and has come back with a stronger fan base. His popularity in the US is phenomenal, he had his own HBO Special, and was a part of the 22 episodes of the NBC sitcom Whoopi with Whoopi Goldberg. Its just not the common man who laughs at his joke, he very smartly tickles the funny bones of personalities like the Emir of Qatar, the late Robin Cook and Bill Clinton. The Observer listed him in their 50 funniest acts in British comedy in 2003. 2005 was a very important year for him, he was part of Comic Relief after the 2005 Indian Ocean earthquake, and the same year, he was featured on the British TV show Top Gear as a celebrity driver.

In 2005 he broke the Edinburgh Festival box office records with over 16,500 ticket sales. He filmed his No Agenda tour; the DVD for the same is planned for release in 2007. In 2006, Sky Television made him the face of their Saturday night movie premieres. He was on the road, entertaining and captivating fans with his jokes, starting January 2007 till March 2007. He has got an opportunity to write his own show for BBC1, which will be aired in September 2007. He has also been invited to be part of the famous Celebrity Big Brother 2008, but it is not clear whether he has accepted it or not. His British fans also voted him as the 60th best stand-up comedian in a Channel 4 program "The 100 Greatest Stand-Ups".
