Papa Roach began singing at the local bar Celebrity. The lead singerdiscovered his love of music by listening to his grandmother's record collection. The drummer discovered his love of music while listening to his sibling's record collection. Papa Roach began playing together while they were in middle school. The group was influenced by music of the '50s.
Papa Roach were relieved when their single climbed the charts. They had heard too many stories of bands with record deals going nowhere. The group played for little to no money at first and was just happy to be given a chance to be heard.
Papa Roach knew they had finally made it in 1992, after the band's first fan club was started by Amy Piper. The fan club grew quickly from a few dozen members in a few cities to a few thousand nation wide.
After this last non-stop year the members of Papa Roach will spend some time apart. The group is in the beginning of the accompanying tour for their most current album. Papa Roach's new release has been heavily influenced by old R&B artists.
