Papercuts started playing at the local bar Beach. The group was influenced by the Animals. Papercuts’s members were friends in high school. The drummer first found his love of music by listening to his sibling's record collection.

Papercuts were happy to get the record deal, but were not sure how far they would go. The release of their first single convinced them that they were right where they should be after their songs began to get lots of radio play. The band is now a huge draw wherever they perform. Papercuts was discovered while putting on a show at at Cafeteria, local bar. The group members were relieved once they were signed and quit their odd jobs that had supported them while they worked toward their dreams.

Papercuts realized that the possibility of living life as actual musicians was a distinct possibility as soon as the group’s first fan club was started in 1988 by Deborah Piper. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Orlando, but the creation the group’s website by Sandra Bierlein, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.

After this past hectic year the members of Papercuts will take some time off. The group is in the midst of the accompanying tour for their latest album.

Generally, critics praise Papercuts for their playfulness with the audience when they perform live. Springfield music critic Shane Yeubanks has always been impressed with group’s incredible bassist. Papercuts’s newest project is the band’s best reviewed record yet.
