Pieces of a Dream Tickets

Pieces of a Dream an R&B/jazz fusion group from Philadelphia have been churning out music for the soul for the past 30 years. The group has researched and developed its skill album after album, year after year, shunned fashion and rage and concentrated only in making good music.

Pieces of a Dream came forth from the Philadelphia’s music scene in 1976. The group comprises of keyboardist James Lloyd, drummer Curtis Harmon and former bassist Cedric Napoleon. The group is being managed by Harmon's father Danny, and uncle Bill Harmon. Stanley Turrentine, Pieces of Dreams that the group performed, kept the name of the group after the cover tune. The group started off by playing all over the Tri-State area, and was soon spotted on Temple University’s path braking jazz radio station, WRTI-FM. The group of teenagers soon had a strong fan following and were praised by other popular jazz artists. Things changed drastically for, Pieces of a Dream when the jazz legend, the late Grover Washington Jr., the sax man moved to Philadelphia. He was very impressed by the trio, and was instrumental in helping them burst into the international jazz scenario.

With the increase in their popularity, they got the job as the house band for a local television show called City Lights. The program helped them hone their skills even further as they played backup to a wide variety of artists. And it was also during one of the shows that Washington heard their music. Soon afterwards Washington began a production company, and Pieces of a Dream was his first act. During 1981 to 1984, Pieces of a Dream issued three albums; Pieces of a Dream, We Are One and Imagine This. The albums had their first hits such as; Warm Weather,” “Mount Airy Groove” and “Fo Fi Fo.”

Their album Joyride was their last recording with Elektra, after those Pieces of a Dream signed a recoding deal with EMI/Blue Note. Then the group went on to release seven more albums and in between the group peacefully separated with long time friend Cedric Napoleon. Then the group went on to sign with Heads Up International, and released one of their best albums, Acquainted with the Night. The album spawned two top-five singles on R&R's NAC chart. The album was followed by yet another release Love's Silhouette. Pieces of a Dream went on to release, No Assembly Required in 2004, which was followed by Pillow Talk, released in 2006.
