Qui’s members were friends in grade school. The lead singer was encouraged to play by his teacher. The bassist used to annoy his brother by playing his favorite music nonstop. Qui started playing at Sector, a local dive bar. The group used to sell their tapes out of their car at local shows.

Even after getting the record deal Qui were not sure if they would make it in the end. Qui was discovered after their single was heard on K89.1.

Qui knew that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true after Kathleen Pillar started the first fan club for the band in 1992. Starting out with just a few dozen members in Ann Arbor, the fan club quickly grew with band’s national tour and the launching of the band’s website by Jennifer Judge.

The band is in the start of the tour promoting for their new album. Qui intends to take some time off after this next tour, allowing the band members to recharge after a long year.
