The members of Ra Ra Riot grew up together. The band had their friends harass the local radio station to play their early songs. Ra Ra Riot began singing at Anyplace, a local bar. The guitarist discovered his love of music while listening to his sibling's record collection.

submitted their single to K96.5 and a DJ took a liking to it. The members of the group all quit their other jobs to focus on their music. Ra Ra Riot were happy to get the record deal, but were not sure how far they would go. The release of their debut release convinced them that they were right where they should be after their songs began to get lots of radio play. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they started.

Ra Ra Riot realized they made it in 1977, as soon as Sarah Ernhart started the group’s first fan club. The fan club grew quickly from a few dozen members in a few cities to a few thousand across the country.

The newest album from Ra Ra Riot is a refinement of their original sound. The group is in the first leg of the tour accompanying for their new release. After this past non-stop year the members of Ra Ra Riot will spend some time apart.
