Ralph Covert is a multi-fascinated personality. He is well known as an American singer/songwriter, musician, performer, producer, playwright, actor, educator, and record company executive. Although much known as a performer who writes and sings appealing music especially for children under the monikor "Ralph's World." He also achieved much fame being the leader of the Bad Examples, a pop/rock group formed in Chicago that worked from 1987 through 2000. Throughout his successful career he has also released well-received solo records for adults. An outstanding songwriter and enthusiastic entertainer, Covert has been appreciated for his ability to appeal both to children and adults. He engages with contemporary music--rock, pop, folk, country, and other genres. Known as a sincere artist who is dedicated to create works for young people that their elders also can enjoy.
Achieving popularity for many of his works, after the birth of his daughter, Covert started teaching "Wiggleworms" classes for children between the ages of three months to six years, at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. Here he had already accomplished himself as a teacher of songwriting for adults. He was keen to make music that could be enjoyed by both parents and their kids, thus he started writing songs for children. Jim Powers, an executive at the independent label Minty Fresh, offered Covert an opportunity to produce an album of original material for children. Covert's first album of this type, Ralph's World came up in 2001. And it was the first release on the children's label Mini Fresh, a subordinate of Minty Fresh.
Ralph's World was remarkable for incorporating familiar genres including the animal song, the guessing game, and the tongue twister, and adding exciting variations and canny wordplay. It was regarded as one of the finest kids' audio releases. P. George in his later releases, including At the Bottom of the Sea, Happy Lemons, Peggy's Pie Parlor, and The Amazing Adventures of Kid Astro, built on Convert's formula, playing catchy originals in an assortment of styles, comprising surf, jazz, rockabilly, and swing. He brought in the concepts such as the alphabet reciting backwards for children and variety. In his live performances, Covert took appealing factors of his shows with the Bad Examples and utilized them to his shows for children. Covert is regarded as a prolific songwriter whose works have appealed to both children and adults with their empathy, profoundness, and creativity.
