Ray Price Tickets

Ray Price dons the hats of a singer/songwriter/guitarist with aplomb. He has sung popular songs such as; "Release Me", "Crazy Arms", "Heartaches By the Number", "City Lights", "My Shoes Keep Walking Back To You", "For The Good Times", "I Won't Mention It Again", "The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me", and "Danny Boy." Price, the popular American country and western singer, was inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996.

Price was in the Marines and after leaving service began to sing on KRBC in Abilene, Texas in 1948, and after a year joined the "Big D Jamboree" in Dallas. After Dallas he set off for Nashville in the early 1950s, and shared a room with Hank Williams. After the death of Williams, Price fronted the band Drifting Cowboys, and tasted small success. His 1954 "Release Me" was a hit and after that Price became one of the loyalists of the grinding, honky-tonk music that was made popular in the early 1950s by singers such as; Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Webb Pierce and others. He is credited with developing the popular "Ray Price Shuffle Beat" (the 4/4 shuffle) that can be heard on "Crazy Arms," which has served as the beat for many honky-tonk classics since then. Finally Price formed his own band the Cherokee Cowboys in 1953. Roger Miller, Willie Nelson and Johnny Paycheck were part of the band in the 1950s and early 1960s. He not only enthralled the country music lovers but also stole the heart of pop music fans with numbers such as; "Danny Boy" and "For the Good Times."

His song "For The Good Times" became a no.1 hit in 1970 and also peaked at #11on the pop chart. The song had a more mellowed sound. Price supported it up by advanced musical sounds; quite the opposite from the honky-tonk sounds Price had started two decades before. Apart from "For The Good Times" Price had three more country hits "I Won't Mention It Again", "She's Got To Be A Saint", and "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me” in the 1970s. His last song to chart in the top-ten hit was "Diamonds In The Stars" in the beginning of 1982, although his songs continued to be there on the country chart through 1989. Now Price sings gospel music and has recorded songs such; as "Amazing Grace", "What A Friend We Have in Jesus", "Farther Along" and "Rock of Ages. " Price still goes on tour and performs all over the country.

Ray issued a new album on March 2007, Last of the Breed that also features country music legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. The album has 20 country classics as well as a pair of new compositions, and the trio hit the road to support the album.
